I decided to close out “Europe” month with an early work by French master, Jacques Tardi.
A satirical take on a Jules Verne-type story, it’s the sort of thing readers will either comprendre and enjoy, or they won’t and think it’s silly.

I don’t recall how I heard about Blacksad, but I am glad I did. Written and illustrated by a Spanish team, it continues “Europe month.”
Although the story was written by a Canadian, the illustrations were done by a Croatian and as far as I am concerned that counts as part of “Europe Month” for Around the World Reading Challenge, 2015.
In keeping with the Around the World Reading Challenge, 2015, this debut graphic novel is by British author/illustrator, Hannah Berry. Like most European graphic novels it is influenced by the French tradition, which I find so much more visually pleasing than the Marvel and DC dominated American style.
